Links for November 22, 2010: AMA interested in re-scheduling marijuana; Much ado about pat-downs; others….

Nice try, buddy. The fed's drug schedules say otherwise.

  1. The AMA is clearly misleading the public. Everyone knows that the government has classified marijuana as a Schedule 1 controlled substance, meaning that it has no accepted medicinal value…

  2. Chaos didn’t ensue. The War of 1812 ensued, is what ensued.

  3. Lots and lots of buzz lately in the libertarian media about these TSA searches. Reason.tv has posted a series of reductio ad ridiculum videos about them. Of course, airlines stand to lose customers if they can not ensure their safety. Nobody wants to see planes hijacked and crashed into buildings. The airlines should be free to handle security as they see fit, without government intervention and mandates.

  4. TSA response: It shouldn’t have happened, but there was no formal report of the incident of file. If you encounter such an incident, you’re options are … [list of options].

  5. If a person gets in line and refuses to go through the body scanner or submit to a pat down, he or she could be detained.

A spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office said deputies won’t necessarily arrest those individuals. Instead, each call would be conducted on a case by case basis to determine if a search is warranted.

–ah. You won’t necessarily be arrested for declining a TSA search. That’s reassuring.
